Jetson achieved a major milestone for personal eVTOL aviation in Europe. The company has been granted the first official ultralight identification number in Italy for an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft by Aero Club d’Italia (AeCI), establishing a new regulatory pathway for personal flight.

Issued on June 17th, the identification number I-E953 is the result of more than three years of collaboration between Jetson and Italian aviation authorities. It represents the first time an eVTOL aircraft has been formally recognized within the Italian ultralight framework as a non-experimental aircraft. Unlike the three experimental permits previously operated by Jetson under AeCI supervision, the Jetson ONE is now classified within the existing ultralight category and benefits from the same operational privileges as an ultralight helicopter of the same class.

This achievement demonstrates that personal eVTOL aircraft can successfully operate within an established regulatory system, creating a practical and compliant framework for recreational eVTOL flight in Europe. The identification covers the same specifications as Jetson’s US Part 103 compliant vehicle, meaning one identical aircraft configuration can operate on both sides of the Atlantic. While the United States allows operation without registration or pilot certification under Part 103 rules, Italy requires registration within the microlight (VDS) system together

with the appropriate pilot qualification and medical certification.“We have worked relentlessly over the past three years to unlock the market in Italy and, in doing so, open the door for citizens across Europe to experience the freedom and excitement of personal flight,” said Stephan D’haene, CEO of Jetson.

“What makes this milestone truly significant is that we achieved it within an existing regulatory framework. For the first time, an aircraft like Jetson ONE is recognized with full ultralight privileges.”Jetson also recognizes the contribution of Aero Club d’Italia and its President, Stefano Arcifa, whose support and willingness to embrace emerging technologies have helped position Italy as one of Europe’s most forward-looking recreational aviation markets.Historically, personal eVTOL aircraft outside the United States have largely been limited to experimental classifications, restricting their use and scalability.

The recognition of the Jetson ONE beyond experimental status demonstrates that innovative aircraft can coexist with existing aviation regulations and provides a repeatable pathway for future eVTOL registrations. The first aircraft to receive this identification belongs to Professor Gabriele Cruciani, making him the first Jetson ONE owner in Italy and Europe under this new framework. An internationally recognized scientist, entrepreneur and Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Perugia, Professor Cruciani has built a career around innovation and technological progress. His decision to become the first Jetson ONE owner reflects a lifelong passion for aviation and exploration.

“We believe Jetson ONE plays an important role in changing public perception of eVTOL aircraft,” said Tomasz Patan, Founder and CTO of Jetson. “We bridge the gap between science fiction and reality. With more than 85 Jetson ONE pilots trained so far, we have gathered valuable real-world flight experience and operational data that helps demonstrate the safety, practicality and potential of this new category of personal aircraft.”

The identification of Jetson ONE as an ultralight aircraft in Italy is more than a regulatory achievement. It represents an important step toward making personal flight accessible to more people and marks a significant advancement in the integration of eVTOL technology into everyday aviation.
